Christmas Cheer for Young Carers after present donation from BT Call Centre

Young Carers at Dundee Carers Centre have been donated a sack full of presents from BT Fundraising Team, Dundee.

Young Carers, some as young as 8 years old, play a vital role at home by helping to look after a mum, dad, brother or sister effected by an illness or disability.

Kim Gansh-Stewart, of the BT fundraising team in Dundee, said: “We’re very proud of our colleagues who got behind this very worthwhile cause throughout our Dundee contact centres. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Christmas than by supporting Dundee’s young carers, who make so many sacrifices which often go unrecognised. We wish them all a lovely Christmas.”

Sarah Boath, Team Manager (Carer Support Services) stated “We are really grateful and appreciate the hard work of the BT Charity Team based in Ward Road, who have donated gifts for all those attending. We’d also like to thank the Wishtree Project supported through Literary Dundee and customers at Waterstones who have provided young carers and their siblings with books which can help with relaxation.”

The young carers are having a Christmas Party on Wednesday, 19 December at the Baptist Church, Ward Road, Dundee where they will enjoy games, a buffet and a visit from a special guest!

Carer: someone who provides unpaid support to a family member or a friend who could not manage without their help.  This could be due to age, disability, long-term illness, mental health problems or addiction. The term carer should not be confused with a paid care worker or personal assistant.
