LGBT Charter Mark

Dundee Carers Centre has signed up to LGBT Youth Scotland’s LGBT Charter Mark. This is a programme that enables organisations and schools to ensure they proactively include those who identify as LGBTQI in every aspect of their work, protect staff/volunteers and ensure a high-quality service to customers, students or service users. More info can be found here. Progress towards the charter is being led by the Centre, however we have been consciously involving wider stakeholders in activity throughout the process.

Building on the already established positive working relationships staff have with local LGBTQI services and to foster closer working practice, the Comms team here have been gathering local info on support available to display in the centre and have collated into an info resource which can be accessed here.  To further raise awareness of the support which we can offer to those who identify as LGBTQI we also took part in the first ever Dundee Pride Event on the 22nd September.

The Centre has been reviewing policies and guidance against the charter mark best practice standards to ensure they are as inclusive as they can be. We are also considering  how we manage data sensitively and appropriately whilst demonstrating to funders and monitors that our services are accessible, inclusive and representative of the local communities in which we work.
