Meet the Counselling Team – Nicola Crombie

We would like to allow everyone to meet our new counselling team by introducing each member and getting a quick summary of their personal and professional background.

Name: Nicola Crombie

What made you get involved as a counsellor at the carers centre?

I started out my career as a nurse before leaving to study psychology and later training as a teacher. Unfortunately, a long period of poor health forced me to stop working but also allowed me to concentrate on my young family. On reflection, I realised that what had drawn me to these areas was the opportunity to understand, support and empower people. Returning to university to study counselling has given me the chance to develop my skills and interests in these areas further and working with clients at the carers centre has been an absolute privilege.

Random fact/something about you?

In my spare time I enjoy making origami flower bouquets.

Something you do to support your wellbeing?

My two labradoodles have done wonders for my mental wellbeing as they make sure I exercise daily, take me out into the beautiful Scottish countryside, provide unlimited cuddles and make me smile every day.
