Episode 1 - 15th April 2020

Carer Issues with Picking up Shopping & Prescriptions

Kieran from our Carers Support Team kicked off the first episode of the Virtual Hubs to discuss issues that carers may have shopping and/or picking up medical prescriptions.

Learning in Lockdown

This episode was hosted by Ellie Julings, Learning & Development Officer for Dundee Carers Centre.

Ellie was joined by Anna Thomas, Awards Co-ordinator at Youth Scotland who discussed accredited learning that people can be doing while at home.

Keeping Fit & Active During Lockdown

This episode was hosted by Vickie Carnegie, Carer Support Worker for Dundee Carers Centre and part-time Keep Fit Instructor.

Vickie was joined by Ali Henderson,Yoga and Pilates Teacher, Writer (, and discussed different ways that people can keep active in lockdown, particularly for those that may be shielding.

Ali & Vicky then ran through a few exercises such as yoga, aerobics, chair aerobics and simple strength exercises that can be done safely at home.

This episode’s was hosted by Tom Barclay, Carer Support Worker for Dundee Carers Centre.  Tom was joined by Lyndsey from Social Security Scotland, who gave a presentation on all grants & benefits that Social Security Scotland offer to carers, plus answering any FAQ’s.

Episode 6 - 20th May 2020

Maintaining your Mental Health During Lockdown

In this episode we discussed how to maintain mental wellbeing in lockdown.

We were joined by Linda Graham, Clinical Lead for Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Sharon Anderson, Community Mental Health Support Worker.

At the end of the session we were then joined by Asha Martin, who demonstrated a quick mindfulness session.

Healthy Eating & Nutrition

This week the topic discussed was Healthy Eating & Nutrition, particularly around malnutrition (or undernutrition), poor appetite and general fussy eating in children.

We were joined by Mia and Lyndsey, both dietitians for NHS Tayside who discussed under nutrition in over 65’s and fussy eating in children.
