A City That Cares: Delivering Christmas Joy to Young Carers

Dundee Carers Centre are extremely grateful to receive books and gifts for 252 young carers who attend primary schools across Dundee this year.
This has been possible thanks to the generosity of members of the public and the organisation behind the scenes from Lesley, Kevin and the staff at Waterstones Dundee and Elaine and her volunteers from Leisure & Culture Dundee’s Libraries service.
We have been running the Wish Tree project for over 10 years now. Every year we are overwhelmed with the generosity of the public which allowed the Wish Tree to finish earlier than planned this year.
Thanks to this year’s efforts many of the young carers we support in groups and 1:1 settings within primary schools will receive a book or gift. We are always grateful to the Waterstones staff and customers and especially to Elaine, Moira and Clare who volunteer their time to write the tags and wrap each book. Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for young carers and having a book or gift can provide them with a small escape from this

On behalf of everyone at the Dundee Carers Centre, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks Lesley, Kevin and the staff at Waterstones Dundee and Elaine and her volunteers from Leisure & Culture Dundee’s Libraries service, for their exceptional generosity once again, and we would like to wish everyone involved a Merry Christmas.
