Dee Ukes, a local ukulele band, met at the Finmill Centre this week for the second rehearsal of the year, to hand over a cheque for £4250 to Stacey Wood, Team Manager at Dundee Carers Centre.

The money was raised over the course of 2025 through concerts in care homes, sheltered housing complexes, bucket collections, and other community events in Dundee and Angus.

Dee Ukes have been together for over 11 years. Group Leader Liz Crawford said:

Despite all the hardships faced by many, people have been so generous with their donations. We can’t believe we have raised so much money just by having fun, which is what we are all about. We don’t ask for payment or expenses, so everything donated goes to our chosen local charity which changes every year. Our group is a Dundee U3A group, so we are all retired folk and joining a ukulele group is the best thing I have done during my retirement.

Stacey Wood, Dundee Carers Centre said:

A huge thank you to Dee Ukes for their incredible fundraising efforts over the past year, raising an amazing amount of money for Dundee Carers Centre. Your support and the generosity of those who donated, will make a real difference in supporting unpaid carers and disabled people in our community.
