Celebrating the People Who Make a Difference: Volunteers’ Week 2026

From Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June 2026, Dundee Carers Centre will join organisations across the UK in celebrating Volunteers’ Week — a nationwide celebration of thanks for the people who give their time, skills and compassion to support others.
Now in its 42nd year, Volunteers’ Week shines a light on the vital role volunteers play in strengthening communities. At Dundee Carers Centre, it is also a chance to pause and reflect on the real difference our volunteers make for our service users every single day.
Why our Volunteers are so Important
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From offering support at groups, helping with events, or providing practical assistance behind the scenes, our volunteers make it possible for carers to feel heard, supported and less alone,
Volunteers bring empathy, understanding and a deep commitment to improving the lives of unpaid carers — many of whom are balancing immense responsibilities at home with little opportunity to focus on their own wellbeing.
During Volunteers’ Week 2026, we will be celebrating our volunteers throughout the week, taking time to say thank you, share stories, and recognise the commitment and care they bring to our organisation. It is a small gesture compared to the impact they make, but an important one.
Over the past year, it has been a pleasure meeting so many incredible volunteers. Each person brings unique skills and helps shape the work of Dundee Carers Centre.
Over the last year our volunteers contributed an outstanding 1,140 hours—your dedication and commitment truly make a difference and are deeply appreciated.
From all of us at Dundee Carers Centre, thank you!
