Carers Week 2024: “Putting Carers on the Map”
This year, we are excited to embrace Carers Week 2024 and this year’s theme “Putting Carers on the Map.”
We aim to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of unpaid carers in our community and have a range of exciting events lined up. We invite everyone to join us in showing appreciation and support for carers.
Creative Writing for Beginners

This informal workshop will be a friendly space to get your creativity flowing and grow your confidence to get words on paper.
No experience is necessary but you must be 18+.

Behaviour That Challenges Workshop

🕓 9.30am-11.30am
Are you a carer for a child or young adult who has behaviour that challenges? This might be because of a neurodevelopmental condition such as Autism or ADHD, or due to mental or physical health difficulties that effect their behaviour such as an experience of trauma or chronic pain. Join this one-off workshop in Mill O’ Mains Community Hub, to share experiences with other carers and learn tips and tricks to identify triggers, communicate better and create safe environments for you and your child.

Carers for Participation in Climate action (CaPCA) project event

Come and hear what carers in Dundee have to say about climate action! The CaPCA project carried out by the University of the West of Scotland Oxfam partnership in collaboration with Dundee Carers Centre are hosting an event to talk about project results and get Carers voices heard to inform climate action policies and activities.
Youthlink Awards: Young Carers Voice is a Finalist!
We are thrilled to announce that Young Carers Voice has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious National Youthlink Awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our young carers and ambassadors. The awards ceremony will be held on the 12th of June, and we are eagerly looking forward to celebrating along with the other finalists.

“Because We Care” Campaign Launch Event

Watch a Carers Story – Pat
In this moving interview, we speak with Pat, who is an unpaid carer for her son with ADHD and ODD. Pat shares her journey of discovering her son’s medical conditions and navigating the challenges of getting him diagnosed.
She also discusses her own experience as a mother of a child with Additional Support Needs, the impact on her mental health, and how she was able to improve her life with the help of Dundee Carers Centre and other support services.

Launch of Accessing Support Without SDS E-module
To celebrate Carers Week, we are excited to share the launch of an additional e-module in the Understanding Self-directed Support Series.
“Accessing Support Without SDS” includes a collection of support services for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Have completed the SDS assessment but don’t qualify for support
- Seek support from a service other than the Health and Social Care Partnership
- Feel that the current SDS support does not meet all needs
- Prefer alternative support while waiting for the SDS Package to be finalised and actioned
