Launch of Budget-friendly Shopping and Cooking Modules for Unpaid Carers

Are you an unpaid carer looking to enhance your cooking and shopping skills within a budget?

Dundee Carers Centre received funding from Multiply fund as part of the UK Government Levelling Up, to create a new suite of e-modules:


Shop Smart Module

Shopping for food can be a constant source of stress for carers, especially when you are working on a limited budget.
This module will give you ideas for planning your shop to get the most out of your money with as little hassle as possible.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Create a budget (or a way to manage what you spend on food) that works for you
  2. Create meal plans and shopping lists that help you stick to your budget
  3. Identify genuine deals and offers and get the most out of your money

Cook Smart Module

This module is for carers who want to begin making nutritious, easy meals on a budget.

By the end of this module, you will have learnt how to:

  1. Adapt recipes to suit specific needs, including scaling up and down for the correct amount of people
  2. Measure ingredients, including rounding up or down and converting from one measurement to another
  3. Use the Eatwell Guide to create a balanced diet using basic fractions or percentages
