What is Respitality?
Respitality is a simple yet powerful initiative which offers unpaid carers in Scotland a much-needed break through meaningful connections with local hospitality, tourism and leisure businesses who are willing to donate a break free of charge. Respitality is a Scottish Government supported project delivered locally by Dundee Carers Centre and coordinated nationally by Shared Care Scotland.
Why Respitality Matters
Unpaid carers play an important role in our society. They provide vital care and support to family members, friends and neighbours which can sometimes come at a personal and financial cost.
Accessing Respitality breaks can help carers feel acknowledged for their efforts and supported to take a break.
Apex City Quay Dundee
We are delighted that Apex City Quay are continuing to support the Respitality project again this year. The breaks they have donated will be matched with unpaid carers in need of a well-deserved break!
The team at Apex City Quay have been proud supporters of the Respitality project for the last year now, and very happy to continue supporting this humbling and important project. The team here value our ability to give something back to the wider community, and this is an amazing opportunity to do so, allowing us to offer our leisure facilities for those that dedicate their time, lives and passion to others and have little chance to have that break that we all need.
Our focus as a hotel is to make magical memories for our guests, creating those moments that they will treasure forever and give them a little escape from the everyday lives and stresses. There are no better beneficiaries of this that those that Respitality supports, which is why we were so keen to be involved and play our very small part. When you hear back from those that have taken the opportunities, it is truly humbling and puts into context the work that the team here do. To hear of the impact that we can have on these individuals, to get them that respite, that time to themselves, to recharge their batteries before going back to their normal lives is truly, amazingly, inspiring. The team here all love playing their part with this, and we are proud, dedicated supporters of Respitality and the Carers centre in general and the important, phenomenal work they do.

What are the benefits of donating to Respitality?
Through feedback from businesses who support Respitality we know that a partnership with Respitality not only reinforces your brand values but reflects the warm welcome that Scotland is renowned for the world over.
The process to donate is simple and breaks can be gifted at a time that suits your business needs. As well as a great avenue for your business to connect with your local community, it is also great for staff morale who see first-hand the difference their support makes to unpaid carers and their families.
Donating to a project like Respitality helps your business to fulfil any Corporate Social Responsibility commitments you have, which can result in improved customer loyalty (as global research shows that consumers are willing to pay extra for products and services from companies committed to positive social impact).
